Then, it moved around the Royal Palace and the fortified city around the waterways and the canals.<\/p>\n<p>During the Indochina Era, French settled on the southern bank of the river and many monuments, often ignored by the tourists, provide evidences of their former presence. Today, most of those monuments are nationalized and occupied by various city departments.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Thus, it\u2019s very pleasant to walk along the Perfume River and An C\u1ef1u Canal to discover those old houses during a stroll of approximately 6 kilometers or 1h30 of walking. During your stroll, you will see many monuments which aren\u2019t mentioned here, as their construction is more recent and has no relation with the Indochina Era. Also take time to visit the <em><strong>embroideries museum.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u0110i\u1ec1m Ph\u00f9ng Th\u1ecb\u2019s Museum Start your walk next to <strong><em>Truong Tien Bridge<\/em><\/strong>, built between May 1899 and October 1900 following the design of Gustave Eiffel, then go up <em>L\u00ea L\u1ee3i<\/em> Street to discover ancient monuments inspired by French architecture.<\/p>\n<p>First, admire the <strong><em>Morin Hotel,<\/em><\/strong> built in 1901 under the name Grand H\u00f4tel and which got its current name in 1906. Opposite, you will see an <strong><em>old French villa,<\/em><\/strong> nationalized in 1954 and recently transformed into an exhibition center where you can admire \u0110i\u1ec1m Ph\u00f9ng Th\u1ecb\u2019s sculptures.<\/p>\n<p>Then turn left, right after the <em><strong>Morin Hotel<\/strong><\/em> and go up <em>Ho\u00e0ng Hoa Th\u00e1m Street<\/em> to reach <em>H\u00e0 N\u1ed9i Street.<\/em> You will see on your left, the <strong><em>old building of the French-Chinese Bank<\/em><\/strong> then <strong><em>L\u00ea L\u1ee3i Primary School<\/em><\/strong> in some colonial buildings.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/senteursduvietnam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG_2137-225x300.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" srcset=\"http:\/\/senteursduvietnam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG_2137-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/senteursduvietnam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG_2137.jpg 600w\" alt=\"\u0110i\u1ec1m Ph\u00f9ng Th\u1ecb Museum\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then cross <em>H\u00e0 N\u1ed9i Street<\/em> to reach <em>L\u00fd Th\u01b0\u1edbng Ki\u1ec7t Street.<\/em> On your left, you will see Hue Science University in some former Indochina buildings. Then turn left in <em>Nguy\u1ec5n Hu\u1ec7 Street<\/em> and go along the <strong><em>Redemptorist Church and Monastery<\/em><\/strong> inaugurated in 1929.<em>. <\/em>Afterwards, turn right in <em>alley 148 Nguy\u1ec5n Hu\u1ec7<\/em> then turn left to reach <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/hueworldheritage.org.vn\/TTBTDTCDH.aspx?TieuDeID=59&amp;TinTucID=68&amp;l=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>An \u0110\u1ecbnh Palace<\/em><\/a><\/strong> and discover this splendid place built in 1920 for <em>Prince B\u1eedu \u0110\u1ea3o<\/em> well-known as <em>Emperor Kh\u1ea3i \u0110\u1ecbnh. <\/em>Admire the inside of the palace and enjoy the calm of the garden. The entrance fee is 20,000 vnd.<\/p>\n<p>Then go down An C\u1ef1u Canal, along <em>Phan \u0110\u00ecnh Ph\u00f9ng Street<\/em> until you reach the crossroad with <em>Phan B\u1ed9i Ch\u00e2u Street.<\/em> Along this street, you will discover <em><strong>the Archbishop\u2019s Palace<\/strong> <\/em>from 1850 then the<em><strong>former house of Prince Nguy\u1ec5n Ph\u00fac H\u1ed3ng Kh\u1eb3ng<\/strong> <\/em>built in 1889 on the model of the garden houses.<em>.<\/em> When you arrive at the market, I advise you to cross it to enjoy the local life.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"http:\/\/senteursduvietnam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG_2169-300x225.jpg\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" data-srcset=\"http:\/\/senteursduvietnam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG_2169-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/senteursduvietnam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG_2169-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/senteursduvietnam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG_2169.jpg 800w\" alt=\"Hai Bai Trung School\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/225;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When going down <em>Phan B\u1ed9i Ch\u00e2u Street<\/em> to reach the Perfume River you can admire some old French villas from 1907 and will go along the very famous <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lyc%C3%A9e_d%27%C3%A9lite_Qu%E1%BB%91c_H%E1%BB%8Dc_%E2%80%93_Hu%E1%BA%BF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Q<em>u\u1ed1c H\u1ecdc Schoo<\/em>l<\/a><\/strong> founded in 1897 to teach the sons of the elites. This school has seen very famous pupils, such as H\u00f4 Ch\u00ed Minh in 1908 and General V\u00f5 Nguy\u00ean Gi\u00e1p, former secretary of the Communist Party and war hero. Take time to visit it to admire its French architecture.<\/p>\n<p>After visiting the school, go down <em>L\u00ea L\u1ee3i Street <\/em>to reach your starting point, <em><strong>Truong Tien Bridge.<\/strong> <\/em>Next<em>to<\/em><strong><em>Qu\u1ed1c H\u1ecdc School<\/em><\/strong><em>, <\/em>also visit<em><strong>Hai Bai Trung School.<\/strong> <\/em>Built between 1916 and 1917 under the name Coll\u00e8ge Dong Khanh, this was the first school for the daughters of the mandarins, civil servants, doctors and rich merchants.<\/p>\n<p><em>Those two schools are accessible for free after 4pm from Monday to Saturday and all day on Sunday.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Opposite to <em><strong>Qu\u1ed1c H\u1ecdc School,<\/strong><\/em> stands the <strong><em>War Memorial,<\/em><\/strong> inaugurated in 1920 in the memory of the Vietnamese who died in France during the First World War.<\/p>\n<p>Afterwards, you will cross the park to reach and go under <em><strong>Ph\u00fa Xu\u00e2n Bridge,<\/strong><\/em> then you will peacefully go along the Perfume River. Take the walkway to pass by the former art deco <em>Sports Circle,<\/em> dating back from the thirties and where the colonial elites were attending.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, you will discover the former buildings of the <em><strong>Annam Public Works Service<\/strong><\/em> built during the late 20s with art deco design. Nowadays it\u2019s the Art Museum of Hue.
