How many days to discover the region of Hue
To discover this historic side of the city, you must plan at least 2 full days. Take time to walk the alleys of the Forbidden City, enjoy a cruise on the Perfume River, discover the tombs of Khai Dinh, Tu Duc and Minh Mang.
But 3 to 4 days are not too much to enjoy the freshness of the Bach Ma park and you bathe in the waterfalls, to take part in artistic activities ideal for a family holiday or to meet the locals and discover the local crafts of the region.
Also, in the evening, take the time to discover the Street Food of Hue during a gastronomic tour that will delight the taste buds of travelers.
How to get to Hue
If you are arriving from North Vietnam, here are the options:
- from Hanoi you can take the train, night bus or simply fly with direct flights for faster transport.
- from Ninh Binh, we recommend the night train to book in advance or a night bus that you can usually book through your hotel.
- from Phong Nha, you can get off by making a day of sightseeing by car in the Demilitarized Zone or take the bus from Phong Nha or the train from Dong Hoi.
- from Hoi An, go by car or motorcycle to admire the landscapes of the region from the Hai Van Pass
- from Danang it is nice to take the train by choosing a seat on the right side to enjoy the sea view.
- from Ho Chi Minh, flying is the fastest and most comfortable way to get to the historic capital of the country.
When to come to Hue?
However, it is necessary to plan your visits according to the months of the year. During the intense part of the rainy season from December to February, avoid planning a long cruise on the Perfume River.
During the warm season from March to August, temperatures rise so go to relax in the lagoon or in Bach Ma National Park to find some freshness.
The end of April and the beginning of May is the time of the festival and so you can discover more of the richness of the city, but remember to book your hotels well in advance.
