Discovering the sanctuary of My Son

Nestled in the hollow of a green valley, 40 kilometers from Hoi An, the sanctuary of My Son is one of the most fascinating sites of central Vietnam.
Between jungle and hills, this mystical place was, for more than a thousand years, the spiritual and political heart of the kingdom Cham, a brilliant civilization of Hindu inspiration.

The Cham kings erected here, between the fourth and thirteenth century, more than 70 temples and towers dedicated to the god Shiva, symbol of creation and destruction.
Built in red brick, without apparent mortar, these structures testify to a unique architectural know-how still today surrounded by mystery.

A sanctuary at the crossroads of cultures

The Cham Kingdom had strong commercial and spiritual ties with India and Indonesia.
This influence is found in the sculpted patterns of the towers: dancing apsaras, protective deities and symbols of fertility.
But My Son is not just a set of ruins: it is a high place of spirituality, where each stone still seems to vibrate with ancient prayers.

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999, the site of My Son is often compared to the temples of Angkor in Cambodia or Bagan in Burma, but it retains a more intimate and natural charm.
The tropical forest, the morning mist and the silence of the places add to the sacred atmosphere that emanates from it.

An excursion between history and nature

Visiting My Son with Senteurs du Vietnam is much more than admiring ancient ruins.
It is diving into a journey through time, guided by a francophone expert who will make you relive the legends of the Cham people, their beliefs and their artistic traditions.
It is also an opportunity to contemplate the natural beauty of central Vietnam, between mountains and rice fields, before returning to Há»™i An, the city of lanterns.

A cultural and spiritual journey, both peaceful, enriching and deeply inspiring.
