Cuc Phuong National Park
Description
Cuc Phuong National Park, natural jewel of North Vietnam
Vietnam’s first national park, founded in 1962, Cuc Phuong National Park is a true sanctuary of nature and biodiversity.
Located about 120 km south of Hanoi and near Tam Coc, it extends over more than 22,000 hectares of primary tropical forests, home to an exceptional wealth of fauna and flora.
Cuc Phuong is a place apart, where you can feel the quiet power of nature: ancient trees reach up to the sky, the songs of birds resound in the canopy, and the paths wind between rivers, caves and green valleys.
This park, considered as one of the green lungs of Vietnam, is also a major center for the preservation of endangered species.
There is the famous primate and turtle rescue center, where local teams work every day to rehabilitate animals before their return to the wild life.
But Cuc Phuong is not only a natural space: it is also a place full of human history.
The discovery of the Nguoi Xua cave, or "cave of ancient man", attests to the presence of the first inhabitants of the Red River delta more than 7,000 years ago.
Visiting Cuc Phuong National Park is to live a sensory and educational experience, between hiking, exploration and respect for nature.
Accompanied by an English-speaking guide, you will dive into a lush universe, perfect for nature lovers, photographers and travelers curious to better understand the Vietnamese ecosystem.

Why visiting Cuc Phuong National Park?
Nestled between the provinces of Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh and Thanh Hoa, Cuc Phuong National Park is much more than just a tropical forest: it is a haven of wildlife and a mecca for nature conservation in Vietnam.
For travelers curious about nature, history and human encounters, a visit to this park is an essential step.
A unique biodiversity
Cuc Phuong is home to more than 2,000 species of plants, 120 species of mammals, 300 species of birds and hundreds of multicolored butterflies that light up the trails in spring.
This rare diversity makes the park a true open-air natural laboratory for biologists, but also a paradise for photographers and nature lovers.
At the bend of a trail, it is not uncommon to see golden-headed monkeys, flying squirrels or even the discreet langur of Delacour, an endemic and protected species of North Vietnam.
A preserved primary tropical forest
Cuc Phuong National Park is one of the last primary rainforests in Vietnam.
Its millenary trees, some of which reach more than 50 meters high, form a dense and majestic canopy, offering a welcome freshness during hikes.
The well-maintained trails allow access to emblematic points such as the millennial tree, the Crocodile cave or the botanical center, which presents the richness of the local flora.
Walking here is immersing yourself in a timeless plant world, where nature reigns supreme.
