Guided tour of Saigon
Description
Guided tour of Saigon: the must-sees of District 1
Discovering Saigon’s District 1 is diving into the vibrant heart of South Vietnam, where history, modern energy and colonial elegance meet in a fascinating whirlwind. From the first steps, the contrasts intermingle: the shaded avenues where still float the perfumes of Indochina, the skyscrapers of sparkling glass, the ancient pagodas, the lively cafes and the colorful facades that tell a century of urban stories.
In this iconic district, every street corner is a world unto itself. The cathedral Notre-Dame stands with its neo-Romanesque grace, recalling the French era. Just opposite, the central post office, a masterpiece by Gustave Eiffel, offers a journey back in time. Further, the bustle of the Ben Thanh market, the scents of incense, tropical fruits and spices envelop you in a warm and authentic atmosphere.
The Reunification Palace, a major witness to the contemporary history of Vietnam, imposes its silhouette charged with memory, while the elegant facades of Dong Khoi Street reveal a refined Saigon, mixing art, fashion and colonial heritage. Between dazzling modernity and living traditions, District 1 is a mosaic of emotions, a condensed of everything that makes the singularity of the city.
This visit is a fabulous immersion, an invitation to feel the pulse of Saigon, to listen to its murmurs, to contemplate its contrasts. Beyond the monuments, it is the soul of a vibrant metropolis that you come to meet.

Central Post of Saigon
Saigon’s central post office, located in the heart of District 1, is one of the city’s most emblematic monuments. From the arrival on its forecourt, its elegant yellow and white facade seduces with the finesse of its neo-classical lines. Inspired by the French colonial style and completed at the end of the 19th century, it bears the prestigious signature of Gustave Eiffel’s team - a detail that further adds to its historical aura.
Passing through the large arched door, one discovers a vast luminous nave with an arch ceiling, supported by refined metallic structures. The whole recalls the elegant architecture of old French stations, giving this place a timeless charm. Beneath the large portrait of Uncle Hô, the dark wooden counters, old telephone booths and maps painted on the walls tell the story of Saigon’s past with a soft and captivating nostalgia.
In this vibrant space of life, travelers and inhabitants meet to the rhythm of everyday life. Some come to post a letter as in the last century, others admire the architectural details or stroll in small souvenir shops. The mix of modernity and history creates a unique atmosphere, almost suspended, where one can still feel the breath of ancient Indochina.
Visiting the Central Post of Saigon is crossing a living fragment of the past, a place where memory, elegance and sweetness of another time meet. A must-see stop to capture the historic soul of downtown.
