A spiritual and natural excursion

The Perfume Pagoda, known as Chùa Huong, is much more than just a tourist site: it is a spiritual place where faith, nature and tradition mingle.
For centuries, thousands of pilgrims have come every spring to participate in the festival of Chùa Huong, a large religious and cultural gathering dedicated to compassion and purification of the soul.

This pilgrimage always begins with the peaceful descent of the river Yen, symbol of the crossing towards inner serenity.
The oars brush against the water, the mountains are reflected in the river, and the scent of incense mixes with that of banian flowers: everything here invites meditation and contemplation.

The climb to the mountain of Huong Son is also full of symbolism.
Every walk, every temple, every prayer represents a step towards wisdom and spiritual liberation.
The Huong Tich cave, considered as “the most beautiful cave of the Southern sky” by Emperor Lê Thanh Tông, is the culmination of this inner quest.
Its stalactites and stalagmites carry symbolic forms – rice, gold, children – to which the faithful lend lucky virtues.

But the Perfume Pagoda is also a jewel of nature: an unspoiled valley surrounded by karst mountains, clear streams and lush forests.
Each season offers a different face: mystical mist in winter, bright flowers in spring, golden reflections at the end of summer.

This excursion from Hanoi appeals to both culture lovers and nature enthusiasts.
It offers a journey to the heart of the Vietnamese soul, where man, earth and beliefs merge into a rare harmony.

Around Hue

Around Hue, a surprising day

Exploring the surroundings of Hue is offering a deep journey into the heart of the Vietnamese soul, where imperial history, bucolic landscapes and centuries-old traditions blend harmoniously. As soon as you leave the ramparts of the old capital, the city slowly fades to make way for a radiant, serene nature, inviting calm and contemplation.

The winding roads along the Perfume River, the rice fields shine under the golden light and the hills are drawn on the horizon in a painting of dazzling beauty. Discreet temples emerge around the bend of a path, peaceful villages reveal their houses with brown tile roofs, and the inhabitants, always smiling, share generously a simple and deeply authentic lifestyle.

Around Hue, each stop tells something: an imperial mausoleum lost in the vegetation, a pagoda nestled on a hill, a popular market where the scents of fruits, incense and spices mix. We discover another rhythm, a rare sweetness, an almost timeless atmosphere – far from the tumult, close to the essential.

For us, these escapades are among the most fabulous in central Vietnam: they offer a perfect balance between cultural immersion, natural beauty and human encounters. It is an invitation to slow down, observe, feel… and let Hué reveal all its nuances, from the most majestic to the most intimate.

Program of the visit around Hué

Our English-speaking tour guide will meet you at the hotel, in the city center, around 9 a.m.

In the morning, discover the peaceful environment of a monastery located in the mountains near Hue and marvel at its orchids.

Then, go to the countryside of Hue to discover the history of the Tomb of Tu Duc and to walk the paths of its gardens in the middle of the bodies of water.

Tomb of Tu Duc

Among the green hills that surround Hue, the Tomb of Tu Duc reveals itself as a haven of peace, a delicate refuge where time seems to have stopped. From the entrance, a gentle atmosphere, almost poetic, envelops the visitor: the silence, the freshness of the pines, the whisper of the wind… everything invites to slow down, to contemplate, to feel.

Built in the 19th century for one of the most erudite and refined emperors of the Nguyen dynasty, this tomb is not only a burial place: it is a true miniature kingdom, thought as a sanctuary of beauty and introspection. Tu Duc came there to write poems, meditate, withdraw from the world – and this artistic sensitivity still resonates with each step.

The pavilions harmoniously follow one another around a vast lake where lotus and century-old trees are reflected. The stone bridges lead to small quiet islands, the brown tile roofs draw elegant curves, and the ochre walls bear the traces of time, giving them an authentic and melancholic charm. The discreet scent of pine trees mixed with that of calm water creates an almost spiritual atmosphere, as if the soul of the place still murmurs the thoughts of the emperor.

Further on, the temples, steles and ceremonial rooms bear witness to imperial grandeur: refined sculptures, ancient calligraphy, pavilions adorned with lacquered wood… Every detail tells the life of a sensitive, literate sovereign, passionate about art and poetry, but also the torments of a difficult reign.

Walking through this dazzling site is like entering the intimacy of an emperor. It is to feel the fragile beauty of a garden suspended between dream and memory. It is living an unforgettable moment, serene, out of time – one of the most fabulous experiences that we like to discover around Hue.

Discovering the sanctuary of My Son

Nestled in the hollow of a green valley, 40 kilometers from Hoi An, the sanctuary of My Son is one of the most fascinating sites of central Vietnam.
Between jungle and hills, this mystical place was, for more than a thousand years, the spiritual and political heart of the kingdom Cham, a brilliant civilization of Hindu inspiration.

The Cham kings erected here, between the fourth and thirteenth century, more than 70 temples and towers dedicated to the god Shiva, symbol of creation and destruction.
Built in red brick, without apparent mortar, these structures testify to a unique architectural know-how still today surrounded by mystery.

A sanctuary at the crossroads of cultures

The Cham Kingdom had strong commercial and spiritual ties with India and Indonesia.
This influence is found in the sculpted patterns of the towers: dancing apsaras, protective deities and symbols of fertility.
But My Son is not just a set of ruins: it is a high place of spirituality, where each stone still seems to vibrate with ancient prayers.

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999, the site of My Son is often compared to the temples of Angkor in Cambodia or Bagan in Burma, but it retains a more intimate and natural charm.
The tropical forest, the morning mist and the silence of the places add to the sacred atmosphere that emanates from it.

An excursion between history and nature

Visiting My Son with Senteurs du Vietnam is much more than admiring ancient ruins.
It is diving into a journey through time, guided by a francophone expert who will make you relive the legends of the Cham people, their beliefs and their artistic traditions.
It is also an opportunity to contemplate the natural beauty of central Vietnam, between mountains and rice fields, before returning to Hội An, the city of lanterns.

A cultural and spiritual journey, both peaceful, enriching and deeply inspiring.
