2.Cooking class in Hanoi – 4h30 workshop

Departure at 9 a.m. or 3 p.m. to go to the local market and buy the ingredients you will use during the cooking class. Our English-speaking tour guide meets you around 8 a.m. Leave for the old town of Duong Lam where time seems to have stopped.

On the way, visit the Tay Phuong pagoda before arriving at the village of Mong Phu, a typical village in the Red River Delta with its history dating back more than 1,200 years and full of old houses dating from the 17th century. Walk through the small streets of the village in the middle of the laterite walls which have acquired this pretty brown color over time, discover the manufacture of soy sauce, taste specialties of the region and visit the town hall then lunch at home.

In the afternoon, visit Mia’s Pagoda and then Thay Pagoda, known as the Master’s Pagoda.

After breakfast, around 8:30 a.m., join Pu Luong. Discover the local life during a 2 to 3-hour walk through rice fields and small trails used by farmers, then have lunch in a local restaurant overlooking the Pu Luong valley.

Then, transfer to your hotel to relax by the pool or according to your desires, possibility to continue your walk on foot.

Enjoy a boat ride along the water, about 1h30, in the middle of the limestones. Let yourself be carried away by the magic of the place, admire the green rice fields and the mountains carved out of caves.

Admire Bich Dong Pagoda by the water, a Buddhist sanctuary in the middle of nowhere, built against the rock, in a splendid green setting.

After lunch, discover another marvel of architecture in an electric car, Bai Dinh Pagoda. It is the largest Buddhist complex in Southeast Asia, imbued with spirituality. You enter through the impressive Tam Quan gate before admiring the entire site, with its huge golden Buddha statues, caves and temples, surrounded by lush vegetation.

At the end of the day, admire the panoramic view of the region from Mua Cave.

Departure from the hotel around 9 a.m., with our English-speaking tour guide to go to Tay Phu village and visit of local market. Then, discover how the Bánh Chung is made, a traditional dish of the Tet festival in Vietnam.

After a lunch in a local house, meet the families who are still doing the local crafts: making rice noodles, water hyacinth baskets, reed mats, tofu… You will have the opportunity to discover and take part in their activities while providing them some support and additional income.

At the end of the day, go for a bicycle ride on the dam, in a peaceful setting away from the cars and among the flowers before returning to the hotel.

Departure by car around 7 a.m., to go to Haiphong and take the ferry to Cat Ba Island.
